Book review: the tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris(No spoilers)

올해 읽은 3번째 책입니다.

실화를 바탕으로 만들어져서 내용이 더 실감났던 책입니다. 개인적으로 오디오북과 함께 읽기를 추천드립니다. 남자 성우인데 Lale라는 남자 주인공 시점에서 쓰여진 책이어서 오디오북과 함께 읽으니 훨씬 더 와 닿았습니다. 초반 부분에 꽤 모르는 단어가 많았고, 또 문어체로 쓰여진 문장이 있어서 초반 이후부터는 중급레벨이라면 무난하게 읽으실 수 있습니다. 역사알못이라 소설로 역사를 자연스럽게 배울 수 있었습니다. 너무많이 기대를 하고 읽은 책이어서 좀 아쉬운 부분도 있었고 개인적으로 로맨스 장르를 좋아하지 않아서 그 부분에서 평가에 높은 점수를 주지 않았습니다. 그래도 한 번쯤 읽어 보면 좋은 책이라 추천 드리고 싶습니다.

The third book of 2021 is the tattooist of Auschwitz.

The first three chapters were quite challenging with the written and literary text, and so I was thinking it shouldn’t have been March’s book. It was not until chapter 4 that the flow of the story captivated my attention.

I had been incredulous during the whole book, describing, based on a true story, what the inmates had gone through—inhumanity.

​

The most impressive part is the way Lale survived there, which led him to rescue not only himself but also Gita. This still lingers in my mind with me looking back on my past. I was the one who was sparing, and it wasn’t as harsh as Lale’s days in Auschwitz though.

Aware that this is also containing a love story, I love Lale who never gave up hope, but everything for his loved one.

And I highly recommend this book with audiobook in which it is naratted by Richard armitage.
